Opening Stages of the Battle for Sellas.

First off, i know i promised 40k, so just quickly i'd like to add that i've gotten 2 drop pods (Which are a Pain and a half to build), a 10 man assault squad, a 5 man Vangaurd Vet squad, and a sprue of wolf gaurd bits (which i'll convert the SGT's and a "not gabriel seth" up with soon)  for the Executioners. Pics soon!

On to 15mm.

---------------

Sellas, is a world in the disputed sector between Conclave and PGCC space. Its capital is Sellas Harbor, and it is cheifly a mineral production and refinement world. CMI infantry and mechanized regiments landed on the Versari Basin, a week ago and have since moved into the Mountainous interior of the continent and toward Sellas Harbour. Since their intital landings they have not met much organized corporate resistance. That is, until reaching the Selliac Line, a string of PGCC outposts for around 300 miles, dividing the center of the mountains in two and seperating the mostly rural unpopulated regions from the more settled areas near Sellas Harbour. When CMI infantry reached this obstacle the commanders ordered platoon sized units to sneak through breaks in the line and incite rioting in the villages further in the mountains.  Many of these units have met with only partial success as PGCC forces have contained the situation until now. But in a sleepy village named Gothago the war sparked in earnest.

A Resupply convoy of PGCC truck was en route to one of the Selliac Line outposts, gaurded by two squads of Combat Technicians and a SYMON when Milita incited by a platoon of CMI burst from hiding in the town. and opened fire on the passing convoy.

The first milita are cut down in a few short seconds and the convoy begins to move on.
But not before executing all of the men who dared to try and stop them.

As the Convoy moved around the edge of a large mountian, the CMI regulars opened fire from several consealed position. taking a heavy toll on the PGCC teams foolish enough to stick their heads out of cover.

(A view of the CMI sniper team on the ridge at the far side of town)

As the Convoy and Combat Technicians worked their way into town, still more Milita burst from hiding, pinning much of the convoy security behind cover.  In a last despirate gambit the Truck drivers gunned their engines down the center road, only to be picked off by the sniper team. As the trucks slammed to a halt, the Combat Technicians commandeered them and raced toward the end of the killzone and the safety of the Outpost.  However, the CMI infantry took one disabled truck, smashing it into the back of the escaping PGCC. Wrecking both, and scattering the supplies across the road.

(an aerial view of Golthago, and the wreckage of the aftermath.)

(the carnage on the roadway, from the sniper teams perspective)

With the trucks burning in the roadway, the supplies lost to both sides, and dozens dead and wounded, the battle for Sellas had only just begun.

Official Outcome: Tactical Draw.

CMI Casualties: 4 (approx.)
Milita Casualties: 24 (approx.)
PGCC Casualties: 11 (approx.)

Great Game, had a lot of fun and its great really getting to be so fluff with it. Im in the process of making a modular 15mm city. Which i may have pics of sometime soon.

Additions to the Conclave background.

The Arana Incident
As the Conclave’s government grew more concrete, and the turbulent times of crafting an interstellar nation had partially subsided. The CMI orchestrated a series of military campaigns against the alien colonies and waystations near their border. This was met with moderate success , it did gain some territory and planets for the Conclave, but at the cost of hundreds of thousands of prospective, and non-members. As the Conclave began to press into the Alien Empires along the Rim Worlds, the PGCC and other corporate forces in the region, began to realize that if the threat was not properly contained then it may well spiral out of control, and cause stockholders to worry about their investments in the Rim.
A PGSCD commander by the name of Oliver Cromwell, was placed at the head of a battlegroup tasked with the annihilation of the Conclave as a significant military threat to the region. He opted to divide his forces into smaller task forces of around five thousand Combat Technicians each, these task forces would hit outlying Conclave moons and orbitals, in order to throw the CMI into disorder, spreading them out over a massive area, so that Cromwell’s main force could smash through the thin lines and siege Davenport.
The CMI, has just won a costly campaign against the Yu’Tesh’ak Empire, and was highly understrength. It was therefore, fortunate that the battlefleets jump-gated into the same region of space, the Arana Nebula. This peculiar spatial anomaly has the ability to mask the sensor blips caused by the engine emissions of space craft. It was for this reason that the CMI had located its fleet command and overall group rally point deep in the center of the Nebula. The invading PGSCD also knew this, and planned to jump in undetected.
When the invaders arrived they found a nest of Conclave ships. and a vicious naval battle broke out. Cromwell’s fleet continued to jump-gate into the nebula. The titanic engagement lasted for five hours and ended after the PGSCD flagship sustained heavy damage. the Total casualties for the battle were 2 PGSCD frigates, and 1 Cruiser destroyed, and 4 Conclave Ship-of the Lines. The Conclave fleet Headquarters itself had also been boarded by an assault force of 2500 Combat Technicians, who were still fighting after Cromwell ordered the general retreat.
These men continued to fight for another hour and a half, before realizing they had been abandoned. The surrender of Operations Manager McCormish, marks the end of the Arana Incident.

Current Age.
With the PGSCD invasion stoppered for the time being. CMI commanders have turned their attentions away from outlying alien worlds, to recruiting for an invasion into the Corporate worlds of the Rim. The captured forces from the Arana incident have merged themselves with the CMI. Feelings of abandonment rife among them. These men have tutored the CMI command staff in tactics and organizational doctrines. Slowly but surely, the CMI is transforming from a grouping of Veteran troopers leading inexperienced militia to a hardened officer corp, leading mixed veterans and units of drilled regulars.
The largest weakness of this fighting force is it lack of modern military vehicles. much of the conclave mechanized support relies upon Rim War relics, or armored civilian vehicles and equipment. The proposed resolution to this dilemma is a massed invasion of the Isthumas Foundry Planets., located deep within the Corporate held rim planets. This invasion would be long, bloody and probably cost millions of lives before it’s completion. But the ambitions of the Conclave are no longer doubted and with their power rising, their long wished crusade against the “Despot Corporations” may be close at hand.

Its hard to get the lighting and focus on these tiny mini's.    But here are some of the CMI infantry i've painted.  1, 8man squad so far.

Also, i've bought two flatbed matchbox trucks at the dollar store. (which looking at them appear to be the same one Chris purchased for his PGCC)  I'll be converting them to be APC's for the infantry you see in the pics above.  im thinking you could probably seat 8 in the back all crammed together. though only 2 will fit there with the bases.

anyway. what are you're thoughts on the background extension and the guys?

- and fear not. 40k to come soon !

15mm Background Redux.

Eisenhorn Conclave.

Introduction.

In the early days of human galactic expansion, Sol system mega corporations vied for colonization rights to the rift of space dubbed “The Rim”. This was fought out on largely isolated worlds between small corporate armies, and largely determined territorial lines on planets, and safe transit lanes in between systems.

The Rim War.

A few decades of living at peace with neighboring alien civilizations, finally breaks into open warfare when a colony ship belonging to Galactica-Saturn Corp, sets up on the moon of Venzi 65-KL7 or “New Saturn” as it was dubbed by the colonists, breaking treaties with 9 different empires.

Less than a week later, the outpost on New Saturn is obliterated by a massive task force of aliens known as the Jenokar. Planets and systems all across the rim also come under attack from aliens. The corporations pull military supplies from all across human domains in a rush to stop a total invasion of Human controlled space.

Human casualties are terribly high in the first few months of the war, some planetary defense forces are butchered by alien invasion forces numbering almost a million. While others were able to hold out for a time against the smaller alien invasion forces, when the Corporation armada’s arrived at the sector capital of Davenport, it was already under siege. The Corporate armadas engaged in a massive fleet battle above the planet, it was however highly one sided, with the alien fleet limping away in defeat.

With Davenport secure, the fleets spread out across the sector. It is wholly impossible to recount all the feats of glory and disgrace acquired by the corporation armies sent out, all that need be known is that after a decade of intense combat, alien encroachment had largely been beaten back and a peace accord drawn with the “Allied Species the Rim” as they had come to be called.

The Birth of the Conclave.

Roger Eisenhorn was the leader of the ground defense of Davenport during the siege all those many years ago. He had been long forgotten, regardless of his key part in the continued existence of human civilization on Davenport (and arguably the entire Rim, though this is speculative at best). Though embittered with his lot in history, he set out to form a collection of Rim War veterans, and equipment to make a “sector army for the protection of corporate assets” as he put it.  The trend spread through several of Davenport’s key trading partners, and Rim War Veteran “Conclave houses” started to appear. Part jail, part armory and barracks, these homes were used by the veterans to keep the peace and to house their families.

The Conclave Revolts

In the following years after the Rim War, corporate officials and military forces flooded the area, staying in every available space, in many cases, displacing families from their apartment blocks. With no where left to go, these citizens moved to the Conclave Houses. The tension begins to build, as alien immigrants and slave workers are brought in to reinforce the corporate infrastructure in the sector. Putting millions of humans out of work, and driving 85% of the non-corporate sponsored civilians into poverty, public revolts became common place, but the anger reached a head when a Conclave Veterans Rights Rally, was forcibly put down by armed corporate soldiers.  The next day, conclave forces opened into armed revolution against corporation forces in the Rim Worlds. “Repurposed” alien slaves were used as cannon fodder early in the revolt and as slave militia in the middle stages, breeding a callous disregard of alien rights and life in the children that would grow in the sway of Conclave territory.

Not wanting to be drawn into another sector spanning war, the Sol corporations, met with Eisenhorn and signed what is now known as “The Treaty of Davenport” allowing Davenport and its system planets to be turned over to the colonists. Though, no trading of any type was to be allowed with any other human settlement, and all Conclave members outside the Davenport system were to be considered “Terrorists”

The Conclave as Government.

With The Conclave now firmly in control of the Davenport system, Eisenhorn swiftly orchestrated a government in which members of his Conclave were the ruling aristocracy. With a clearly defined social class, of Member, Prospective Member, Non-Member, and Alien, this also carried over to the military organization of the “Conclave Militant Initiative” or CMI for short. With Members being the only ones allowed access to advanced weaponry and suits of power armor, almost all members saw combat during the Rim War. Prospective Members formed the bulk of the Line Infantry for the CMI, armed with assault rifles of varied type and flak armor, they are also the primary vehicle crews. Non-Members make up the dissidents of the new society and didn’t immediately become prospective members when the class system was introduced, they are often times armed with semi automatic rifles, and only the most basic in armor. Alien forces, are mixed, while there is a vehement hatred of the alien in the conclave (and indeed many aliens are used as fodder), if they are possess a particularly advantageous skill, they will be place in special companies with Members as watchdogs, that will allow them to use their skills to the fullest. With a military and a Ruling body in place, the Conclave needed territory.

Expansion… Discovery… Justice. These are the things we seek. We fought for the sector, for our families and for each other when the Alien vied to destroy us, BUT IT FAILED!  Then we were denied by the despot corporations, who sought to us our blood to build their empires, BUT WE RESISTED!  It will not be the Alien or the Despot that inhabits this sector. NO!  It will be the common man, the conclave, striving as we always have to get what we deserve!  Even if we kill every alien and corporate mercenary in the entire galaxy. WE WILL PREVAIL!

-Roger Eisenhorn, during the opening of the Eisenhorn Conclave Governmental Center.

I still feel like its missing something.

Half Company of Free Marines ?!

Yes ladies and gentlemen you read that right operation FREEloader has already yielded about 50 marines.  To be exact.  1 Captian, 1 Jump Chap, 1 Regular Chap, 1 Techmarine, 4- 10 man tactical squads, and 2 scouts.

How, you may ask am i able to attain all these marines?   Well thats simple. By painting peoples stuff !  More specifically Landon's shiny (litterally) new necrons. Images of the ones i did last night below !

In other news. I met with Chris from Sippin' on Paint Water and we talked about 15mm and i feel like i got the Background ironed out, so i'll post that soon. While i was up at the hobby store i also got into a game with Jim Bowen, we played an 1850 game of nothing but infantry.

Dark Eldar v. Pilgrims of Rust.
Pitched Battle-Annihilation.

Some shots from the game below.

Regardless of the fact that i used every dirty trick in the Infantry Commanders arsenal for IG, and sported 2x  the number of troops. The Dark Eldar simply move 18 inches and wiped out whole units a turn.  The Jacobite Combined Infantry you see above, (coming in from outflank b/c of Al'Rahem) after slaughtering a giant squad of wyches with 2 Hamonculus were attacked by Scourges and Hellions and more wyches and trueborn.

Though The vast array of power weapons sgt's did take a heavy toll on the thrice cursed pointy-ears.

Thats all for now folks !

Saturday Games, and the rest of the Squats.

So, as usual i went up to the Gaming Store this Saturday and played a couple of games.

The first one. a 1500 game against Landon's  Hammers of Ornus.

Spearhead-Capture and Control.

I lost, The Attack Bikes (Not normal bikes)  loaded up with melta hit the lines around turn 3 and shut down the shooting of both tanks. While the forward weapon teams died first turn from the Rifle-Dreads. The command teams and the Infantry then had to scramble to meet targets as they approached from the Horde of rhinos filled with Marines.  The Vendetta came in  and destoryed a dred, and unloaded the vets who tried to get to the objective, prior to being blown apart by three predators and an additional tactical squad.  *sigh.    NEXT TIME! !!! haha.

Then. A sudden massive thud came from the parking lot and i watched in horror as the Power Armored figures of Chris and Chris strode from their drop pod into the store.  Or something like that... my memory's a little fuzzy.   Anyway, me and Chris H. got into a game 1k.

I got to fight against the brothers of my newly accquired Executioners.
Deployment was Spearhead-Capture and Control (oddly enough)

I deployed first, and Chris opt'd to keep his entire force in reserve. A bold plan that paid off as he got in the Bulk of his army at one time anyway.

The Terminators deep struck into our lines and got stuck  into  melee after melee as Traitors swarmed over them.  Other Executioner advances were met with cannon fire and las, and were unable to breach the lines. The Vendetta Came in and was blown apart before doing any real damage. The Vets however faired much better and were able to blow up the Razorback before being slaughtered like cattle.

All-in-all the game ended in a draw (despite Chris' dirty final gambit !). with lots of fun memorable moments like an Infantry Sgt's death or glory-ing a rhino. The Company Commander holding off a terminator squad with his chainsword. and The Terminator Sgt. fighting off the horde.

Finally pics of some Squat stuff.

Most importantly the Giant Raider "counts-as"   made from two M3 Lee turrets, the Body of a Lee and some plasticard.

Next up I think i'll post up some 15mm propaganda and pics of different things. As Chris and Chris, have told me that they are both interested in the matter. So expect an Even more diverse amount of hobby from here on.

And as i was about to finish up. i remembered that i also Accquired a Techmarine, and 2 scouts for the Executioners "FREEloader" project. For painting some more Hammers of Ornus.

I think thats it gang
